Cicero – State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-11) celebrated Puerto Rican Day alongside State Senator Iris Martinez (D-20), the first Latina elected to the Illinois Senate, and Miss Cicero Lupita Diaz-Donato. The annual celebration took place in the Cicero Community Center, located at 2250 S. 49th Ave. The festivity honors the Puerto Rican community in Cicero. Sen. Sandoval introduced Martinez to the audience, praising her career achievements as well her frequent support for the Town of Cicero.
Senator Sandoval represents the 11th Senate District, which includes the neighborhoods of Brighton Park, Clearing, Gage Park, Garfield Ridge, Little Village, West Lawn, and West Cook municipalities of Bedford Park, Burbank, Cicero, Forest View, Lyons, McCook, Stickney, Summit and Riverside.
